Pembrokeshire Trip – September 2022 Day 1

Anna and I have recently returend from a short break in Pembrokeshire. The main reason for it was so that I could continue some Coast Path run, but it was also a nice opportunity to get away for a few days for some sight-seeing, some relaxation and some good food. Morgan was obvously not interested so it was just the two of us.

It was also Anna’s birthday, So, after opening her presents in the morning we left for the drive to Pembroke and the Angle Peninsula. We weren’t in any hurry so decided to stop off at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran for a stroll and then some lunch. As we arrived we saw signs for Heritiage Canoes. I didn’t realise this was here but it is where a friend of mine works. I had arranged to meet up with him during our trip. He had said he wasn’t around on Friday as he was working at Heritage Canoes but could meet us in our way home on Tuesday. So, seeing as we were here at Heritage Canoes by accident I thought we’d try to say a quick hello. As luck would have it Dennis was indeed there in the office rather than on the water so we had chance for a coffee and a catch up. By the time we’d finished chatting and Dennis had to head off it was luinch time. We therefore dispensed with the stroll and just bought some lunch from the cafe.

We then continued our drive to Pembrokeshire. First stop was the Green Bridge of Wales where I was able to continue with my Coast Path run from The Green Bridge of Wales to Freshwater West. It was only a short, hour long run today as we then had to head to Rhoscrowther where we had an Air BnB booked.

It was a lovely little place with a decent bedroom / lounge upstairs and a kitchen and shower room downstairs. Everything we needed and very quiet and secluded. There was coffee, teas and even a couple of beers left for us and plenty of eggs fresh from the chickens. We didn’t have too long to settle in though as we were soon off to Stackpole for dinner at the Stackpole Inn. Not a bad dinner either – just what we needed. Although, we should have ordered birthday cake as well really!

Once back at the cottage it was time to getting planning for tomorrow. I try not to run on consecutive days as that tends to lead to injuries so instead we had aday of exploring ahead of us.
