Pembroke, Bosherton Lilly Ponds and Paternoster Farm

Day 2 of our mini trip to Pembrokeshire.

Pembroke

After a relaxed breakfast at our Air BnB we headed into pembroke to explore the town. We wandered through the streets and around the Mill Pond which didn’t take long. It did allow me to tae some photos of the castle though.

With plenty of time left on the parking meter we decided we should pay to enter the Castle and have a look around. There wasn’t a huge amount going on but I did of course climb all of the towers. Anna didn’t! We then popped into the cafe for coffee and cake.

There were plenty of photo opportunities though and it was a nice to wander around the various displays.

Bosherton Lilly Ponds

Next was a trip to Bosherton Lily Ponds for a lovely walk around some of the ponds. It’s an interesting place with some lovely walks. We didn;t go far but certainly got a good flavour of it. Once again there were plenty of photo opportunities.

Paternoster Farm

I can’t remember what we did for lunch but I think it was just a snack as we had a nice meal planned for the evening. This was at Paternoster Farm which isn’t the easiest place to find. It’s literally up a little bumpy lane to a farmyard. We parked next to the cattle sheds and went into the barn where a warm welsome awaited. People were sat at rustic tables tucking into their dinners and staff were working hard in the kitchen at the end. We were sat in another room in the barn and soon had the menu and our drinks at hand.

The food is served in a Tapas style of sharing plates so we were a little unsure of what to order but went with the

  • Humus and Aubergine
  • Honey Barbecue Glazed Sweetcorn
  • Fennel Pizza
  • Beef
  • Cabbage

Our thoughts were that we had two starters, two main course and a vegetable course.

As it turned out it was more like 4 main courses and a corn on the cob to share! The pizza was a step too far really so we took much of that home with us. It was all top notch delicious food though. I’m glad we went there.

With that, Day 2 was complete. Tomorrow’s plan was to head back to the Coast Path for another run and the weather looked good for it.
