4 Awesome Games that You Don’t Need a Gaming Laptop to Play

PC games and graphics cards are so intricately connected that it’s only natural to believe a regular laptop won’t be able to run any good ones. That is not necessarily true anymore, at least not in 2022. Provided that your laptop’s internal graphics processor is powerful enough, you won’t need to spend a pound over your budget to play any of these four awesome games.

Fortnite

If you have not yet played or even heard of Fortnite, then maybe it’s time that you start! It’s one of the most popular online multiplayer third-person shooters to ever be released. You do not need a discreet GPU or a gaming laptop to play Fortnite with your friends online. Just make sure that your laptop has 8GB of RAM and turn on Performance Mode to enjoy smooth gameplay with 80fps+ on any decent laptop released in the last two years.

Streets of Rage 4

If you are a kid from the 80s or even the 90s, then you probably grew up playing beat’ em up games like Final Fight, Double Dragon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and of course, Streets of Rage. Rekindle your fond childhood memories of good-natured, virtual head-bashing with Streets of Rage 4. It has emerged from the depths of time, but with better graphics, sound effects, and animations. Despite all the audio-visual glory, you do not need to have a gaming laptop to enjoy Streets of Rage 4 on your laptop.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Believe it or not, you can indeed play Red Dead Redemption 2 without a discreet graphics card in your laptop! The new generation of Intel UHD graphics processors is powerful enough to run RDR2 at 30fps+, which is a testament to how far iGPUs have come from their early days. Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online can both be played on a modern laptop, even if it does not have a dedicated graphics card. You might be tempted to think that this is nothing incredible as GTA V was released nearly a decade ago in 2013. One would be very wrong though because Rockstar’s graphic engines have a way of staying relevant and impressive, even decades down the line. On its highest settings, GTA V can still floor mid-level gaming PCs. The best part is that even when you drop settings down and turn all the extra visual effects off, GTA V still manages to look fantastic for a game so old.

There are plenty of games that did not make the list because we have such powerful APUs from both Intel and AMD nowadays that almost any title can make the list! Nevertheless, honourable mention goes out to Apex Legends, CS: GO, Hitman 3, Black Mesa, Forza Horizon 4, and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. These are just some of the later or popular releases, but if you are willing to go back by a few years, there are very few titles that you won’t be able to play at low – medium settings in 1080p.
