Miserable March

The weather forecasters have been going on about how wet March was. The long-term average for Wales in March is 118.5mm in March. Many places saw double that. We’re actually quite a lot drier here on the coast than in the rest of Wales. We never get that much rain so making comparisons with the...

May Rain in Borth & Ynyslas

Well, after a very dry April the rain in May has certainly made up for it. It feels as though it’s been raining non-stop for weeks here in West Wales. So far in May, the Borth & Ynyslas Weather Station has reported 123mm of rain. The usual average rainfall for the month of May in...

Rain at Last

That didn’t really feel like a bank holiday weekend. I think its the fact that things still aren’t back to normal due to Coronavirus. We can’t complain though as it had everything we needed. Cycling, running, kayaking, swimming in crystal clear waters, a walk at RSPB Ynyshir, windsurfing, a Spicery meal and some rain at...

Walking in the Rain in Snowdonia

Walking in the rain in Snowdonia is one thing, but the conditions yesterday were ridiculous! It was my birthday on Friday so rather than just go out for drinks or a meal, or as we usually do just stay at home and do nothing, I came up with the idea of getting a few friends together...

Rain!

I think we had a bit of rain last night – It kept me awake for most of the night. Here’s the rainfall chart (red line) for the past 24 hours from our Borth & Ynyslas Weather Station.

A Soaking Wet ClimachX

Wales is known for being wet and rainy but I’ve never know it like this before. It seems to have been raining pretty much non-stop for months. Everything is sodden, the ground is saturated, low-lying areas are flooded and rivers are at bursting point. The garden is a quagmire and where it isn’t it has...

Rain Rain Rain

Well, yesterday was pretty wet, it rained non-stop all day with 30.8mm of rain according to the Borth and Ynyslas Weather Station. Not a record, that still stands at 55.8mm on October 1st 2006 but plenty of rain all the same.

OK, even I’m getting fed up with it now. What has happened to our summer?  June was the wettest June on record apparently with double the average rain falling during the month, the Met Office has said. Provisional figures showed the UK received 145.3mm (5.7 inches) during June, beating the previous record of 136.2mm (5.4...
