Late Winter in the Garden

I don’t want to say that there are signs of Spring in the garden yet – It’s still a little early for that and it is looking quite wintry out there still but, there are some signs of late winter garden life.

The birds are singing, there are blackbirds, robins and a little wren hopping around. I had a little look at the bees on Tuesday morning and they are still there and seem to be doing well. I started feeding them with some syrup which is a sure sign that Spring is on its way.

Various plants are beginning to show signs of growth too now that the days are getting longer. The rhubarb seems to be getting a head start.

The daffodils, tulips, bluebells and other bulbs are sprouting well.

We even have some flowers from the Hellebores and the first daffodil flower of the year too.

I guess it’ll be time to get out there to start doing some work on it soon. It may be a winter garden at the moment but it’ll soon be a Spring and Summer garden.
