Days 16-18 of Summer – Playing on the beach

Yep, that’s 18 days of summer so far and counting. Admittedly yesterday wasn’t quite as nice as it had been as it was now a bit muggy but the temperatures still made it to 25.1°C which is pretty warm for these parts. It was also a Monday which is never much fun after a nice...

Is everything a month late this year? – Windsurfing at Ynyslas

I’ve just got back from a quick early morning windsurf session in the estuary super-chop at Ynyslas thanks to Ivor, our katabtic wind who was in full force this morning. Nothing too unusual there really expect for the fact that I haven’t been windsurfing much lately. There used to be a time that I’d be up at...

Mud, Sweat and Soaring Temperatures

Summer continues here in West Wales with temperatures yesterday reaching a maximum of 30.3°C, the hottest so far this year but bot quite equally the hottest we have ever recorded of 33.7°C set on this day in 2006. I started the day with an early morning run, nothing too hard just a steady 6.5 mile...

Manx Courgette 2

Courgettes from the Isle of Man

While chopping up our first batch of baby courgettes from the garden for tea last night I came across this one with mini three legs of man inside. They are definitely from Wales but it is nice to see and bit of the Isle of Man cropping up when you don’t expect it!

Garden produce

It’s taken a while to get going this year but suddenly the strawberries, black currants, red currants and raspberries are ready to pick and eat. We’ve also picked our first baby courgettes and purple sprouting broccoli. It’s lovely to have food for tea that we have grown ourselves.

Summer Day 12 – Sunrise and Sunset

Another summery day here with a hazy sunrise and a spectacular sunset. Maximum Temperature was 23.2°C at 7:38pm. Morgan was at home from school as he was ill, I was busy with work all day but did manage to fit in a ride once Anna got home from work. Just a fairly easy spin with...

Day 11 of Summer 2013 – Open Water Swimming in Aberystwyth

And so the summer continues. As usual Tuesday was a busy day with lots of running around and things to do but the highlight was a gorgeous open water swim in Aberystwyth followed by dinner on the prom watching the sunset and listening to Anna playing in the band. The temperature didn’t quite make it...

Aberdovey Triathlon

The Aberdovey Triathlon was never in my race schedule for this year, but last weekend at swim training I was asked by the organiser if I’d be kind enough to help someone out and do the swim section of the race for them. They wanted to race but didn’t feel comfortable enough in open water so...

Day 8 of Summer – It’s the weekend!

The weekend was here and the summer continues. Temperatures here on Saturday made it just above 20°C again with a maximum of 21.2°C – just about perfect as far as we are concerned and as usual we had a busy day making the most of it. I started the day going out for the cycle...

The Bright Colours of July

From whence there was a field, a pile of rubble, some breeze blocks and wooden frames comes the bright colours of summer flowers. Summer continues and the flowers are loving it. The garden is full of life, the water butts are running dry and the pots need constant watering. It is nice to have a...
