Christmas Cake Decorating

Saturday afternoon was spent decorating our Christmas Cake. As usual, the cake was baked weeks ago and has been being fed with brandy at regular intervals since. I then covered it in a double layer of marzipan last weekend. A double layer because I like marzipan and I’m the only one who eats the cake!

Morgan and I then set to decorating it on Saturday. First was band of green icing around the edges, followed by a covering of White icing to act as a snowy backdrop.

With the basics in place it was time to get creative. I made a Christmas tree out of various star shaped bits of icing. Morgan set to making Rudolf and some candy canes.

We then added some presents and I finished everything off with some extra decorations and some sprinkles. I didn’t actually take that long and was a bit of fun as usual. We’re not the best at cake decorating but it always turns out OK in the end.
