Patrol Leader Camp

Hooray, we survived the North Ceredigion Scouts Patrol Leader Camp! The Welsh weather did it’s best to defeat us, but failed. In fact we were lucky whilst setting  up on Friday night as it wasn’t raining and we were treated to a glorious clear night with very little wind either.

Saturday was quite wet all day mind you with some torrential downpours in the evening but we managed all of the activities we had planned and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. As well as camp fire cooking and other camping tasks there was shelter building, team-building skills, challenges, knife, axe and saw skills, camp chair construction and plenty of other things to keep the potential Patrol Leaders occupied.

A few Scouts got wetter than planned once they realised their tents and been flooded but came to no harm and I don’t think we even used the First Aid kit all weekend.

Now that I’m home, clean and showered and free of Scouts there were very few downsides, other than the fact that a few missed training sessions and far too many bacon baps and cakes mean that I gained 5.5kg in 48 hours. But then again, some of the best bits probably involved bacon baps and cakes! I also had no sleep, but that’s just me as I’m rubbish at sleeping at the best of times.
