A Weekend in Pembrokeshire – Day 3

I survived the night, and woke up feeling quite a lot better. I was able to enjoy my breakfast at Boulston Manor today. After which, we packed up, said our goodbyes to Rod and Jules and started to head home.

Originally I would have been running some of the coast path today but I was too ill to do so. Instead, we decided that it would be nice to stop off at Mwnt for a stroll and have a leisurely drive home. So, that’s exactly what we did.

Mwnt

The sun was out when we arrived at Mwnt and I managed to snap a photo of the National Trust Beach before we walked down the steps to the beach.

By the time we strolled down to the sands though the sea mist had rolled in. We sat on the rocks for a while but soon walked back up towards the car as it was chilly without the sun.

The little summit overlooking the beach was still quite enticing to me so I headed off towards the top while Anna went back to the car. Despite feeling a little better I clearly wasn’t. I was only walking slowly but I was soon out of breath on this little incline. I took the easy way up but still had to stop for a breather part way up. I did make it to the top but there wasn’t much to see up here as the thick sea mist was now enveloping the whole coast. You can just about make out the beach below through the mist.

Heading Home

Nevermind, I’d be here again soon on my journey around the Coast Path. There wasn’t really much else to do other than head home. I think Anna was feeling a little deprived of chocolate having not had any in her presents that she’d opened in Pembrokeshire. She was at least expecting some from Morgan when we got home. Morgan had been manning the fort, and looking after to cat so all should be fine there. We’d heard from him via text message now and then and he had wished Anna a Happy Birthday. He had also sent me a text saying:

When we got home, there were indeed presents from Morgan in the form of chocolate. However, the first thing he showed us were the cuts on his leg and informed us of the fact that he had taken himself to A&E. Appaently he and James had thought it might need stitches so they went to A&E to see. When they got there and discovered it would be at least a three hour wait they decided not to bother and hope for the best. Morgan ‘cleaned it throughly with some alcohol wipes’ and thought that would be OK.

Looking at it I doubt that they would have put a stitch in it, not inless they were feeling a little bored at A&E and fancied something to do. They would probably have put a steristrip on it to keep him happy. It doesn’t sound as though it was bleeding much and it looks OK now. I think he’ll survive. I’m not sure about me though, I was still feeling terrible and once again by the evening felt much worse with the usual chest pains, head aches and pressure. Guess I’ll just have to keep myself topped up with painkillers. My email trip-note says I’m not back at work until Wednesday though (as I don’t officially work on Mondays and Tuesdays, but do usually do some overtime on those days), so I can continue to take it easy until then. Knowing my luck I’ll end up feeling terrible throughout my ‘holiday’ and will be fine once I’m due back at work.

Still, it was a nice weekend away even if I had lurgy. In many ways it meant I had more time with Anna on her birthday as I wasn’t off doing something active while Anna acted as my support crew. Mind you, I’m not sure if Anna thought more time with me around was a good thing or if she’d prefer some peace and quiet!
