Pottery Adventures: Catching Up and Winging It

I had to play catch-up at pottery this week and relied on Anna for instruction and details on what they did last week. Anna of course had plans of her own and was busy doing her own thing so I was kind of winging-it.

My creations were a slab-built pot thing – looks as though it could hold pens and pencils on my desk if it survives the firing. I’ll try to tidy up the edges and add some colour to it next week. I also added some decorations to the thing I created during my first lesson that became a jug, and another I made a little bowl.

Anna made some pretty impressive little soap dishes (I think she’s secretly quite proud of these), a somewhat wonky pot with some blue and white decorations and started on a bowl decorated with little flowers. Her plan is to practise some glazing techniques on these next week. I didn’t get to see what had happened to the pots she created during our first lesson and that she had refined last week as they were in the kiln, or somewhere in the firing process anyway.

There was rumour of them letting us loose on the potters wheels soon – that should be interesting – expect lots of mess and very little to show for it!
