Cereals

I’ve not long got back from an exhausting couple of days at the ‘Cereals Event’ in Nottinghamshire where I was manning the Biomass Connect stand. I know I don’t often post about work-related things, but as this was a little different and I had some photos I thought I would.

It was tiring thanks to the long drive there and back and the sweltering 30ÂșC heat. We can’t complain though as hot and sunny conditions are ideal for an outdoor event and I’m sure wet and windy wouldn’t have been much fun either. I was manning our projects’ stand and chatting to potential biomass growers and anyone else likely to be involved in the biomass sector. Dave and Nana were there with me too.

As well as manning the stand we all went around every other stand, again networking with those of relevance. I don’t think I’ve spoken to quite so many people for ages and may well have exhausted all of my words for a while!

Elsewhere in the show, there was loads of huge machinery on display. I’m not really into tractors but some of these were certainly impressive. There were displays on a larger field of this machinery in action. There were talks and presentations being given in a number of marquees, there were demo plots of various cereals growing and displays of their root growth and effect on soil structure. You could see robotic machinery in action and even complete a 4×4 off-road course. There was plenty going on and it was a huge event so plenty to keep us busy over the two days that we were there.

I did come back with a couple of unwelcome hitch-hikers in the form of ticks though! Lets hope there are no other unseen stowaways.
