Wild Windsurfing

It may not look like a summer’s day in August from the video clip below but the water was warm, the air temperature was warm and the wind was blowing. All of which led to a top notch windsurf session off the seafront.

Maxed out on a 5.7m all the time. A 5.0m would have been plenty most of the time and sometimes I would have been OK on a 4.5m but I held onto the 5.7m anyway just for that extra power in the lulls and to blast out through the whitewater. There were some wild rides. Lots of nice jumps, some good slashy wave rides and even a back loop attempt. Lovely!

Alistair was out too and had a few big swims as the waves out the back were pretty chunky. Certainly a lot bigger than the GoPro footage makes them look as they were well over head high. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday afternoon.
