Bumblebee Photos – Which is Best?

The Aberystwyth Beekeepers Association has a photographic competition coming up, so Morgan and I are going to enter. The categories are:

  • Inside the Hive
  • Beekeepers
  • Other Bees (not the honey bee)

We are only allowed one photo per category so I now have to choose a single photo for each. I have to make sure Morgan doesn’t beat me as he has some pretty good photos of beekeepers and some photos from inside the hive. He also took some pretty good ones of Bumblebees the other day.

So far I have very few for the first two categories, but too many to choose from as far as the ‘Other Bees’ category goes.

Here are a couple of my best Bumblebee photos, which one do you prefer and which one should I submit?

Red Tailed Bumblebee No. 1

Red Tailed Bumblebee No. 2

Number 2 (and I’m not sure why I’m not allowed to enter!?)

    I’m with no.2

So everyone is going for number 2, whereas I preferred Number one as I just liked the composition better – shows what I know.

No prize for the voters- in fact I don’t even know if there’s a prize for the winners of the photo competition, but it’s all good fun. Keep the votes coming.

I agree that the composition is better on No.1 BUT….if were talking downright “just wanna win the competition” I’d enter No.2. It’s a really good, in focus shot of the bee, without worrying too much about what’s around it. And that’s probably all that the judges will be looking at.
