Anniversary Treats

Seeing as we hadn’t long got back from Norway, we had a fairly quiet weekend.

Saturday

I’d brought home a little bit of lurgy with me anyway so had been taking things easy as far as exercise is concerned.

There was lots of wind forecast though so Steve was coming to the coast for the day and we had an excellent windsurf session here at Ynyslas. I was out with my 5.0m sail and 104 litre board in the onshore conditions. On my first run, I blasted up towards the estuary, weaving in and out of the whitewater as I went. I then headed upwind a little whilst in amongst the estuary sandbanks so that I was able to head out beyond the majority of the breaking waves on my way back. Having made it out the back so easily I was a little reluctant to come back into the breaking waves so blasted up and down whilst waiting for Steve. There were still plenty of waves to play on out here and I had some really nice backside waver rides too.

Steve soon joined me on the water with his 5.3m sail and 104 litre board. He seemed to struggle to get right out the back (although he later told me he didn’t want to go too far out as the waves were big enough close to the shore!). I headed in to see him now and then and had a full-on non-stop session covering over 22 miles. We weren’t out for long, but what a day!

Not much of an anniversary treat I know, but Anna had a day of relative peace and quiet as I was out on the beach and I had a 5-star windsurf session! The wheel on my wheelbarrow had a flat though so I had to get Anna to bring a track pump over to the beach to rescue me!

Sunday

Sunday started with a nice little run for me.

I was a bit tired from the day before and still had a bit of a cold so it was no more than a leisurely jog around the boat yard loop.

With that done it was off to Aberystwyth for some shopping. I needed a new wheelbarrow to start with and I also wanted a few things to feed my new house plant obsession! Anna wanted to get some new clothes for an upcoming holiday. I know, we’ve only just come back from a holiday but there’s no harm in planning another! We stopped for a nice brunch together and then headed home for a relaxing afternoon.

We then headed off to Libanus 1877, the boutique cinema in Borth. We hadn’t been for a while, but with the latest Indiana Jones movie showing we thought it would be a fun little treat. The film was just what you’d expect from an Indiana Jones movie! It is a nice cinema though and we had a couple of the comfy armchairs.

Monday

It was back to work on Monday, but also our anniversary. I, therefore, spent much of the day cleaning, tidying and cooking a nice Spicery meal for us. This also involved rearranging the dining room so that we had a new look table to eat at. I even went to the trouble of getting some hand-picked flowers from the garden for a vase on the table and picking a romantic playlist for the evening – talk about extra brownie points!!

That’s not the end of our anniversary treats either as we’re off for dinner at Gwen this coming weekend. We’ll tell you all about it once we’ve tasted the delights on offer there.
