A Bed for Saddle Sightseers

Anna and I were at our most social on Wednesday evening. Unusual for us I know, but a couple of cyclists who are cycling around Wales were in the Aberystwyth area looking for a bed for the night. We, therefore, offered to put them up. Their names are Connor and Lisa and they weren’t complete strangers as they are friends of friends. I’d met them previously on a camping weekend in North Wales a few years ago and then again at a New Year’s Eve party in Cilgerran. I also seem to recall meeting them somewhere else but can’t quite remember where – possibly camping in Dolgellau?

Lisa is actually planning to cycle all the way around the UK whilst Connor is joining her for a while around Wales. They had been at a friend’s house in Cilgerran a couple of nights before, then spent a night camping in Aberaeron before cycling to ours for another night under a roof. Probably more welcome than the roof over their heads was the offer of washing and drying some clothes, a nice shower and of course some home-cooked food!

It made a change for us as well. Rather than sat in front of the TV watching Ted Lasso we spent the evening catching up with Lisa and Connor and chatting about all sorts of things. I’m a little envious of Lisa’s trip around the UK as it sounds like fun. Maybe Anna and I will have to plan something like this one day!

You can catch up with their progress on their blog here: Saddle Sightseeing

And here’s a photo poached from their blog -they’ve been lucky with the weather so far!
