Toyota Cars – Sound OK to me

I’m not really sure why everyone seems to be having a go at Toyota Cars . They’ve identified a few issues with several of their car models – OK, that amounts to a considerable number of individual cars – but they have admitted that there is an issue and are fixing it. What more could people ask for?

If they were denying that there was a problem or refusing to fix it then people would have a right to moan, but from what I’ve heard they are putting on extra staff, opening service centres for longer hours and doing all they can to fix the problem.

The media seem to be suggesting that these faults will damage Toyota’s reputation and people will lose faith in them but for me its the other way around. The true test of a company, especially a huge company like Toyota, is how they deal with things when something goes wrong. In this instance it sounds to me as though they are treating their customers fairly and sorting things out for them. It certainly hasn’t damaged my opinion of them, if anything it has strengthened their reputation and makes me think that buying a Toyota would be a good thing as I can rely of them when things go wrong.

Modern cars are complicated beasts, faults will creep in now and then and mistakes in the design can be made, the fact that Toyota have owned up to their mistakes and are doing all they can to resolve them seems fair to me, you can’t really ask for much more.
