Non-Stop Sunday

Phew, that was a busy day even by my standards. Saturday was pretty busy as it goes with various garden carpentry repairs but I did get to chill with a nice big curry in the evening. Surf Ski Session Sunday started early with a Surf Ski session from Ynyslas to Borth. It was a lovely...

Garden Carpentry Repairs

Nothing seems to last long around here. Anything metal simply rusts away in no time and even wood seems to rot pretty quickly. To make matter worse, anything that isn’t 100% secure gets ripped to pieces by the wind so it’s not surprising that I always seem to be making repairs. The sheep invasions haven’t...

Remember, it’s only February

I think that is probably the first time that I’ve ever mowed the lawn in February. The mild temperatures we’ve been having lately – it reached 17.8ºC on Friday – make it feel as though it’s much later in the year than that already. The garden seems to think so as well. It was in...

Snowy Scene

Just a quick snowy scene from the weekend – with a nice wintry filter too.

Signs of Spring?

It doesn’t feel as though we’ve even started Winter yet. Regardless, there are already signs of Spring in the garden with Daffodil shoots, Periwinkle flowers, flower buds on the Hellebore and even some rhubarb shoots breaking through the soil. It’s not looking very Spring-like out over the sea this morning though.

Tuesday Morning Sunrise 2

A Tuesday Morning Sunrise

It’s not looking too bad out there for a Tuesday morning in December. It’s 8am, the Borth & Ynyslas Weather Station is reading 1ºC and there’s lovely sunrise. There’s a decent surf rolling into the beach and it’s all overlooked by a thin crescent moon and the bright light of Venus. Lovely!

More Aquarium Repairs

Unfortunately, the most recent set of repairs I made to my failing aquarium didn’t work. I tried emailing Aquatlantis again but had no response from them. They seem to have washed their hands of the matter and clearly don’t want to help. So, I have now had another go at making repairs. This time I drained...

Walk Home 1

The Dreary Walk Home from School

Morgan doesn’t have a set way of getting home from school. Sometimes he meets Anna and I in work and gets a lift home. Other times he gets a lift with a friend. Sometimes he gets the bus to Borth and then I pick him up from there. Other times he’ll get the bus most...

Corn on the cob 1

Harvest Time

I guess it is harvest festival time. Despite not spending too much time working in the garden this summer it is producing well at the moment. The courgettes are still fattening up and providing us with a steady supply. There are tomatoes galore, and even some corn on the cob. Plenty of rhubarb for rhubarb crumbles...

Fish Tank Rebuild – Back to the Drawing Board

Well, the more substantial repairs that I made to my Aquatlantis fish tank didn’t last long. I refilled it earlier in the week hoping that the repairs would hold up. Within about 8 hours though they had failed so I’m back to square one. The sealant holding the brace to the side of the tank...
