Tales from a down-shifted family
- Making the most of modest means
A group of staff at Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities decided to coordinate a bike ride between the two campuses. The idea was to create a social approach to the Alliance between the two Universities and as a contribution to the Health and Wellbeing programmes at each University. I of course couldn’t resist joining them so booked a...
I had a fun little estuary adventure on Wednesday. My day started with an early morning swim from South beach in Aberystwyth out around Castle Point and back onto North beach with Graham, Helen, Richard, Mike and Victoria. I do think I picked the wrong activity though because as I left the house to drive...
Look what I spotted on my ride on Sunday morning – yep, it’s a giant knitted troll climbing up from under the bridge in Llwyngwril!

Whilst on an open water swim session on Monday here at Ynyslas the water was clearer than usual so I was actually able to see the seabed. I was also able to see lots of large Spider Crabs roaming around out there. The larger ones seemed to be wandering around on the sand on their...
Seeing as my last post here was raving about what a nice day it had been for a bike ride, I thought I’d balance thew world with a quick post about yesterdays bike ride. Needless to say, it was a very wet and miserable one! No photos and nothing to rave about, just some more miles...
I can’t run at the moment due to a case of Plantar Fasciitis, so my usual run, swim and bacon sandwich on a Sunday morning has been replaced with a swim, bacon sandwich and a ride instead. It’s not doing much for my running but it does give me an opportunity to do a longer...
