Tales from a down-shifted family
- Making the most of modest means
I’ve been paranoid about running out of battery charge in my SLR camera for a while now. Carrying an extra battery would be easy, but I liked the look of the battery grips that allows you to put two batteries in them. Not only do they allow you to add an extra battery, but they...
Following up from my earlier post about planting palm trees in Ynyslas, I’ve noticed today that you can even buy them via Amazon! No need to even leave your house, just order them online and have them delivered to your door. Definitely no excuses now! Amazing what you can buy online these days.. I don’t...
All of our new home entertainment equipment arrived on Thursday. Delivery from eBuyer was quick, although we did have to contact them as they tried to give us a free HDMI cable which was then out of stock and wo8ld have meant we would have to wait for everything else until the freebie was in...
I always say that the best camera is the one you have with you, and since buying a little Pentax Optio W60 a few weeks ago this has proved to be true. It may not have quite the optics of my Canon SLR or the features and flexibility, but the fact that I can pop...

It isn’t available yet, but the new Garmin Foreunner 310Xt looks like an intersting bit of kit. I have a few GPS devices already and love my Garmin Foreunner 305, this just take it to another level, being more rugged and waterproof. Finally, a GPS-enabled training device that isn’t afraid of the water. The rugged...
I’ve been Twittering using Tweetdeck for a while, but now that I administer several Twitter accounts (a personal account, accounts for websites I maintain and company accounts, as well as one for ‘Designing Libraries’ where I work on Monday’s and Wednesdays), it was getting used less and less and I tended to rely on Twitterfox...
Finding the perfect camera can be a nightmare, but I’ve now come to the conclusion that there isn’t one camera that suits all circumstances. Which, of course, means that it is time to buy another camera! Well, you can’t have too many gadgets can you! I know it wasn’t that long ago that I bought...
