Our new garden water feature has worked a treat. Not only does it look and sound good but part of the intention was to provide some water for garden wildlife. Whilst sat out in the sunshine late on Sunday afternoon we saw first a Willow Warbler take a bath in it followed by a Great...
Have you run out of things to do with the children during the school holidays yet? The weather might not be great, but that shouldn’t stop you getting out into the great outdoors and doing things with them. Blueberry Picking How about heading to the hills for some blueberry picking – You can then spend...
Not content with all of our garden produce we thought it was time for some foraging. I went out for a MTB ride from Pendam whilst Anna and Morgan spent an hour picking blueberries. Apparently there were loads of them and although it takes a while to pick them they got a whole pint of...
Our adventures into Beekeeping continue. Regular readers will know that we currently have a bee hive on loan for 6 weeks situated at the bottom of our garden. All seems to be going quite well. We aren’t due to start bee-keeping properly ourselves until next spring but as we were near to a bee-keeping supply...

‘Plan Bee’ is going well. On Sunday evening under the cover of darkness an estate car pulled up at the house containing two people, two beagles a cat in a box and a mysterious cargo in the boot. With hushed voices so as not to wake the neighbours and donning head-torches we unloaded some carpet,...
Another busy weekend for us. We like it that way but now and then it would be nice to have a quiet one as well. Yesterday we had visitors coming for lunch, so after taking Morgan swimming for an hour or so we busied ourselves getting ready for that. Marion and Les turned up around...
Just some flowers from the garden. The Agapanthus have started flowering, and a stand of sunflowers have appeared from nowhere. We didn’t plant them so we can only assume that the seeds came either from the compost bin or the bird feeders. They seem to be doing well though and are now in flower.
