The Long Way Home
Sunday was a lovely day here in West Wales. Clear blue skies, and sunshine but with quite a chill in the air. There was little wind either so a perfect day for a walk in the hills.
First though I headed out for a paddle on my surf ski as I haven’t had chance to get out on it much since buying it a few weeks ago. I didn’t do much, just a gentle paddle from the beach outside our house out to the buoys over the Dyfi Bar and then into Aberdyfi itself. From here I went with the tide up the estuary to the beach at Plas Panteidal and then turned around for a bit of a slog against the tide back to where I started.

Anna and I then headed into Cletwr Café for brunch. After brunch Anna left me there to walk home whilst she drove home. Being me, I didn’t take the direct route him but instead headed off into the hills. Up through the Cletwr Valley with the river tumbling down the hillside to my right. I then headed off across the hills all the way to Talybont. I had some lovely views towards the estuary from here, with our house at Ynyslas in the distance.
Here I strolled through the woods, shuffling through thick carpets of autumnal leaves as I went. I then followed the paths down to the Riverside Caravan Park and across to Dol-y-Bont and then off to Borth where I followed the Leri home. Quite a long way round really but a lovely day for it and considering I had a heavy rucksack on, all good training for my upcoming Kilimanjaro trip.
