Chocolate Overload for Morgan’s Birthday

Somehow, Morgan is yet another year older and at 15 I’m not sure where all the time has gone. We decided to go a little OTT on the chocolate front for his cake this year. Anna baked a nice big Chocolate Celebration Cake for him and then made loads of lovely chocolate ganache using some of the top quality chocolate she made at the York Cocoa House. We drizzled loads of it over the cake and then I topped it with as many bars of chocolate as I could get my hands on. Once set it was a massive mountain of chocolatey goodness. I think I’ll call it a Chocolate Overload Cake.

Morgan of course took the whole birthday thing in his typical nonchalant teenager style. He didn’t really want anything in particular for his birthday so had money from many people, loads of sweets, biscuits and even some socks in the form of a pizza from Granny and he is having Scuba Diving lessons (in Malta later in the year) from us. There was also a slight glimmer of surprise and excitement when he opened the Apple Air Pods from us as well. He had no clue about them and I think he was pleasantly pleased with them.

We have been trying to get him to invite some friends around for pancakes – seeing as his birthday falls on Pancake Day this year but he doesn’t seem to have got around to that. We suggested dinner out somewhere but he didn’t seem too keen. I think he thought he might miss out on pancakes if we went out somewhere! We’ve even tried to get him to go to the cinema with friends or at least do something for his birthday but he doesn’t seem too bothered about doing any of that either. Oh well, I guess that’s just the way it is with teenagers. No doubt he’ll grow out of it soon and with the way the years seem to be flying by it won’t be too long until he does.

We don’t seem to have many recent photos of Morgan, (probably because he doesn’t leave his bedroom very often, other than to go to school!) so here’s one from a while back.
