The Garden Yields

Our hard work on the garden is beginning to pay off. As well as looking nice out there, we’ve already had some garden produce.

As well as the strawberries we’ve had a few raspberries with plenty more on the way. The blackcurrants and red currants seem to have been striped by the birds, but we’re doing Ok with the vegetables. We’ve had a few peas, there are beans on the way, we’ve dug some potatoes, have eaten the first courgette of the year. We’ve even cut two lovely looking cucumbers from the cucumber plant and the peppers, chilli’s and tomatoes are all doing well.

We’ve eaten more home grown lettuce than is healthy (with a few green fly that came along for the ride!) and there are more beetroots than we know what to do with out the back. We’ll never grow loads of fruit and veg and the time, money and effort involved doesn’t make it a particularly cost effective way of eating but it’s fun to do and it’s nice to grow your own now and then.
