Conservatory – Nearly There

Progress has slowed down a little on the conservatory over the past week or so. The guy who has been tasked with doing the plastering, rendering and tiling only works a couple of days a week so there hasn’t been a huge amount of activity. He has now finished though. He did the internal plastering one day last week, and the tiling and exterior scratch coat another day. That then gave me the weekend to paint the internal walls before the carpenters come to do the skirting boards etc. The electrician also popped out for a couple of hours and finished off his part by fitting the light and switches.

The plasterer then returned yesterday to do the rough cast render. Unfortunately yesterday was the only day that I wasn’t at home and the colour of the rough cast doesn’t match in very well with the rest of the house. The house is a very light cream colour, almost white really, whereas the new rough cast on the conservatory is quite yellow. It might dry a little lighter I guess, but if not, do we live with it as it is, paint the whole house or just paint the conservatory walls to match the rest of the house?

Now all we’re waiting for is a few finishing touches and a few fixes for things we’ve noticed that aren’t quite right. We could be relaxing in it by the end of the week (hopefully).

Just heard that the builders are coming tomorrow to finish off – Then it’s time to sit in the conservatory and enjoy it.
