My Newt
As well as moths in the moth trap on Sunday we also found a tiny (minute?) little newt next to it. Here he is on Morgan’s hands. As far as the moths go, we had a few in their, including a Dark Sword Grass which was a new one for us.

We’ve just had some new artwork to brighten up our walls. The first is a 85cmx60cm canvas from a photo I took earlier in the year. The photo was only taken on my compact camera so I wasn’t sure how good it would look blown up to that size, but it looks brilliant. The canvas...
Another week and more moth trapping. 10th October 2009 It looked like a good night so after last nights successful trapping we put the moth trap out again. Temperatures remained mild, only dropping to 13.8ºC and there was no rain and relatively light winds; Westerly, gusting to 20 knots.. 1x Angle Shades * 3x Silver...
Well, I’m finally feeling as though its time to get back on track and start training again. It’s taken a while as it has been over 2 months since I was in hospital and I’m still not feeling 100%, but I can take it no more. I just need to get out on my bike...
I’ve been doing quite a bit of moth-trapping lately. Usually it just involves placing a moth trap in the garden overnight and then investigating the contents in the morning. The identification, counting and photographing of the moths can take a while sometimes, but generally its a fairly laid back affair. Last night was a lovely...

How about using the touch screens not as part of a...
Well done to all those who competed in the Aberystwyth Twin Peaks Challenge today. It looked like a great event with good conditions. I hope you put in a time to be proud of. I was the photographer part way up Pendinas and then again on the prom and managed to get some good shots...
Seeing as I’m a little obsessed with moth trapping at the moment I thought I’d share this from BBC Autumnwatch. They were moth-trapping in Portland, a place I know really well as I spent 5 years of my life studying its geology for a PhD. (Which I never quite finished). I did get pretty intimate...
After a damp night, the lawn was covered in tiny little musrooms.
3rd October 2009 Our second night of Moth Trapping. It started out really windy so I lashed the trap to a breeze-block to stop it from blowing away. Not ideal mothing conditions, and that was further compounded by a full moon. The wind was forecast to ease overnight though so I was still hoping for...
