Glamping in the Garden

We have visitors coming this weekend – Well, actually they are arriving Sunday night for a couple of days.

It’s my Sister Trudi, her boyfriend Mike and he children Kia an Shaun. As we only live in a small(ish) bungalow we don’t have huge amounts of room for them, mainly because one of our bedrooms is my office and the other one is the beach room / gym. They didn’t seem keen on sleeping in the tent though, so we shall be giving up our beds and ‘glamping’ in the garden ourselves.

We’re actually quite looking forward to it, the weather should be kind to us, it’s not really camping as we still have the house for everything other than sleeping in and we have the tent set up and looking nice.

What’s more, we shall put the moth trap out in the garden so will be able to watch the moths and bats and listen to the wildlife in the garden – perfect timing seeing as it is the RSPB’s Big Wild Sleepout weekend this week – Their website says:

Discover the secret world on your doorstep by sleeping out in the great outdoors! Put up a tent in your garden, build a makeshift shelter or, if you’re brave enough, simply sleep out under the stars. If you’ve not got a garden, we’ll be hosting a range of sleepouts and other night-themed events.

and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing.

What’s more, tonight and tomorrow night should be the best nights for watching the Perseid Meteor shower this year, so clouds willing we’ll be starring at the skies for a while too, and we may as well get the telescope out as well and take a look at a few celestial bodies. No doubt Trudi and her clan will want to join us in the great outdoors of our back garden once they see the set-up!
