A Day at Llandysul

I’m not quite brave enough to use my new Insta360 X3 camera whilst white-water kayaking yet. It doesn’t feel quite as robust as my old GoPro, it’s new, it’s expensive and the lenses look quite vulnerable. The main reason is the fact that I spend far too much time upside down, swimming and generally doing less than impressive things in the water rather than on it.

So, despite spending a lovely day on the river at Llandysul with Aber Kayakers on Sunday I have no video or photographic evidence of it. So, instead here’s a video from Jason’s GoPro. Much better as he spends far more time upright doing impressive things in his kayak rather than floating down the river testing his drysuit. I think he even rescued my boat at one point for me.

It’s all good practice though and with the club having 2 more end-of-month trips planned for the end of February and March I should be able to get out on the water a couple more times this winter. We’re quite lucky here that there are plenty of rivers within an hour’s drive so day trips are more than possible. Hopefully, I’ll get out a few times in between the end-of-month trips as well. Who knows, I might even start improving at some point too. I think I am really, it’s just slow progress when trying to learn something new at my age!
