BANG! Autumn’s here

I don’t know what happened to the summer, but autumn is here with a bang. Out of all the seasons it is the one that you really notice arrive. Spring creeps up slowly on us with new flowers and longer days, Summer never really arrives and Winter just seems to happen without really ever starting....

Borth – It’s a Small World

I came across a weblog written by another local resident the other day. I can’t remember how it came to my attention, probably through a ‘Google Alert’ in my inbox, but it was well written with lots of local interest so I had a look through it and then to my surprise found a photo...

A Walk in the Dunes

I haven’t been out of the house for a week so as it was such a lovely day I just had to go for a nice easy walk in the dunes. I had Morgan with me so it was more of a tiny little stroll really, but I still managed to take a few photos....

Camping in South Wales

We’ve just got back from a fairly successful camping weekend in South Wales where we got to try out our new tent. We drove down on Friday afternoon and found the campsite without any problems. It was a lovely peaceful little site in between Llandovery and Llandeilo, on the main road just outside Langadog. It...

Caterpillars in the dunes

A fairly non-descript day here today. Not enough wind for windsurfing, no surf, a little grey in the hills (although a bike ride may be on for later in the day) so Morgan and I wandered across to the dunes to chill out. There wasn’t much happening there either, but we did see some funky...

Watersports in Wales

I’m not about to say that West Wales can compete on the world stage with the likes of Maui, Fiji or Cape Verde, but on its day, when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining then it can be pretty good. Today was one of those days. Clear blue skies, blue water and...

10 Pin Bowling in Aberystwyth

Those of you who know Aberystwyth will know that it isn’t always the most up to date place, but we had promised Morgan we’d take him 10 pin bowling. Unbelievable there is a choice of two places to go, one in Llanbadarn that I’d been to a couple of times before and one in the...

MTB ride Angler’s Retreat to the Chute

The busy week here continues… We’ll tell you more about some of the things we’ve been doing later, but I did manage to squeeze in the weekly Ystwyth MTB club night ride last night and actually remembered to take some photos too. So, for those of you who wonder why we put ourselves through the...

Cycling around the Mawddach – IS Away day

Every year Information Services at Aberystwyth University arrange several ‘away days’. As a part time member of staff there I’m entitled to go on one and have half a day off. The options include things such as shopping in Chester, Go Karting, visits to gardens and Andrew (who works with me) had organised a cycling...
