Jetlagged into 2026
Happy New Year everyone — let’s hope 2026 is a good one.
Anna and I were still a little jet-lagged from our journey home from the Philippines, and our digestive systems hadn’t quite recovered either. However, before going on holiday we’d booked a table at Libanus 1877 in Borth for a New Year’s Eve meal, so despite feeling a little out of sorts we went along for a nice evening out together.
We started by sharing a Camembert starter. To be honest, that may have been enough for us in our fragile states, but we soon moved on to main courses and then — unusually for us — shared a pudding as well. Not only did we share it, we couldn’t even manage all of it.
All the while we were in the lovely surroundings of Libanus, occasionally entertained by one of the waitresses singing. It was a relaxed, unhurried dinner, but the jet-lag eventually won and we headed home well before midnight. We’d planned to walk, but it was cold and windy, and after just a single drink a two-minute drive felt preferable to a 40-minute stroll.
Needless to say, we were tucked up in bed long before the clock struck midnight.
