A Shopping Adventure in Bristol: Anna’s Hunt for the Perfect Gala Dress
Shopping isn’t something we do all that often—mainly because West Wales doesn’t offer a ton of choices, and, to be honest, it’s not really Anna’s thing. But with a Gala Dinner coming up, Anna decided she wanted a new dress, so off we went on a little shopping adventure!
Luckily, my mum and sister are total pros when it comes to shopping, especially for fancy occasions. Since we were supposed to be passing through, Anna decided to take advantage of their expertise and invited them along to Bristol for a day of dress hunting.
As it happens, our original reason for heading that way (a work trip I had planned in Somerset and Devon) got cancelled at the last minute. So, the shopping spree became the main event of our trip! We set off for The Mall on Monday, and soon enough, Anna, my mum, and my sister were deep in the world of dresses.
While they were busy finding the perfect outfit, I took the opportunity to charge the car and wander around a bit. When I caught up with them later, Anna had practically hosted her own mini fashion show and was starting to feel the effects of trying on what felt like a hundred different dresses! Here’s a peek at most of them – which do you like best?
After narrowing it down to a few favorites over lunch, it was back to the shops for one last round of try-ons. Eventually, a winner was chosen, with style, comfort, and price all playing their parts in the decision-making process (in pretty much that order).
With Anna all set to look stunning, I figured it was only fair that I put in a little effort too. So, I joined the shopping fun and tried on some suits. And yes, as you might have noticed from the photo above, I couldn’t resist trying on a rather fetching crocheted cardigan with my shorts! In the end, I picked up a nice suit, shirt, and waistcoat combo. I might not look as nice as Anna, but at least I won’t be mistaken for a vagabond at the Gala Dinner!
