Weekend Activities

Well, after missing a week windsurfing in Morocco, things didn’t turn out too badly here on the wind front. In fact I managed to get out on windsurfing every day. Most days were on the seafront in decent conditions nicely powered up with a 5.7m sail.

There was a session where I had to change down to a 5m and a smaller board too so that was good. One day was in the estaury without quite so much wind which wasn’t wuite as good but I did still get out and did still get going.

Best Session Saturday

Saturday was set to be the best day though with 30 knots SW winds forecast all day long. Anna and I also had an invite to meet some family for lunch so I headed onto the water earlier so as to get a session in. This meant sailing on my own for the first time since my heart attack. I therefore planned a relatively short session. It was however the best session of the week. I was able tyo try out my new 4.5m sail for the first time. It’s now become my new favourite sail! Conditions were perfect. 30-35 knots SW winds and some nice manageable waves providing nice ramps for some big jumps. The perfect way to start the weekend.

The Brigands Inn

Anna and I then headed off for the short drive to the Brigands Inn in Mallwyd. Here we met my Uncle Paul and his wife Anne-Helen for a delicious lunch. Anna and I have always wanted to stop at the Brigands Inn but we usually pass it on the way home. By the time we get there it’s only 40 minutes until we actually get home though so have always just continued on past. I think we’ll return as it’s not too far to drive for an evening out or a lunchtime treat. The food was good and the company was too.

Gravel-tastic

Sunday started with a nice little run around a familiar loop here at Ynyslas.

After some lunch it was then off to the hills for a gravel bike ride with Steve.

Gravel Ride Pit Stop

The weather was quite nice on the coast but once in the hills it was drizzle all the way and sticky, claggy, muddy trails under our tyres. Talking of tyres, the sealant in mine had dried up so I gradually lost pressure and had to pump them up a couple of times. In the end I put in a tube and continued on our way.

It was nice to get out on a longer ride even if it does mean that I’ll be spending today cleaning my bike and sorting out the tubeless set up once again.
