An Earth Cache on the Beach

Tide was a little too high

A new Earth Cache had been created on the beach just across the road from us so we thought we’d better do it – we are supposed to be geologists after all.

It was centred around the submerged forest on the beach so is only visible at low tide, and it has to be said only visible under certain conditions as well as sometimes the submerged forest can be completely covered in sand so the amount of exposure changes from day to day.

We went just before low tide but weren’t sure if we’d be able to see it as we were only on Neap tides this weekend. When we first got there, the stump in question was visible but covered in water. We could get to it with our wellies on but had to let the tide drop to fully out before we could see it properly.

We managed to answer the questions though and have now logged the geocache as found. Despite it being active for a few weeks we should be the ‘First to Find’ as well
