Action Packed Work Day

After an evening surf session at Ynyslas on Tuesday, it was back at work on Wednesday following our trip to the Isle of Man. Being back at work didn’t stop me having some fun though.

Estuary Windsurfing

I started the day with an early morning windsurf session in the estuary. Funnily enough, at 6:30am there was no one else around. The sun was rising, the wind was blowing a hoolie courtesy of Ivor (our local katabatic wind) and the tide was filling in. I rigged my 5m sail and newish 85 litre Severne Nano board. I haven’t really got used to this board yet but these were just the conditions I needed to do so.

I was soon blasting back and forth across the choppy waters and getting a better feel for the board. I haven’t quite dialled in the gybing yet but I was at least able to head up wind a bit better.

I noticed someone out on a blue wing-foil over at Aberdyfi so headed upwind a little and then crossed the channel to head to Aberdovey. There was a bit of swell in the channel too so I played around here for a while before heading back to Ynyslas and then home for a day of work.

Power Issues

I may have been nicely powered up and at times overpowered with a 5m sail in the estuary but back at home it was different matter. The power supply seemed to be fluctuating with the wind gusts. The lights and other electrical items would dim and whirr to varying degrees and every now and then the RCD’s on the fuse box would trip. Getting work done in such circumstances was challenging to say there least. I saw some electrical engineers working on the pole outside so went and had a chat to them. They were working on a different fault so didn’t know that we were having problems too. They did take a look for me and found a fault elsewhere that was causing the voltage to our house to fluctuate. They apparent;y fixed it, but it hasn’t been perfect since so I’m going to have to get in touch with them again.

Cadair Idris via Tapia Llwydion

After work at 5:30pm, I headed into Tre Ddol to meet Ioan, Matt and Julian and we all headed off to Cadair Idris. It was a cool, windy day as the sun was dropping in the sky. We set off at a decent pace up the steps to Llyn Cau and then around to the base of Tapia Llywdion.

This was a new route for me and involved some decent scrambling on very grippy rock. It was very windy at times which added a little to the excitement.

We headed off to the summit for snacks and some photos and then headed off to Craig Cwm Amarch before descending in ever increasing darkness down the Minfford Path.

A decent day at work!
