First Windurf of 2023

A New Year and it’s back on the water for me! I had to go out at Llanrhystud again rather than from home. It’s not my first choice as it means a bit of a drive to get there. However, as I need someone to sail with and Alastair prefers it there that’s the price I have to pay for a windsurf session. It’s not too much of a drive and I guess it makes a change now and then.

Conditions were good for a 5m sail and my bigger board. It was a little up and down so sometimes that was plenty, other times I could have done with a little more. Isn’t that almost always the way with windsurfing. Alastair was having a good time as well.

The main issue with windsurfing at Llanrhystud is the drive home. When sailing from home I walk across the road and jump straight in the shower. From Llanrhystud it’s a 45 minute drive in my wetsuit until I get chance of a shower. Again, I guess that’s better than most people have and I could get changed on the beach if I wanted.

Not a bad way to spend some of the afternoon on a weekday though.
