Easter Sunday Windsurfing
After a couple of days with not quite enough wind, Easter Sunday finally delivered the goods. I went for a nice run first thing in the morning then chilled at home for a while.
We did the annual Isaac’s Sweet Shop treasure hunt in Aberystwyth, had coffee at Coffee #1 and then headed home to a decent wind. Nothing mad, just a steady 20 knots so I headed over to the beach with my big kit. I rigged my 6.7m sail (the biggest I have) and my 104 ltr board (also the biggest that I have). This, coupled with my biggest fin, a 33cm one was the perfect set up for the conditions. I was well powered and flying along. It was pretty busy out there with lots of kite-surfers but I was having fun blasting in and out through the small waves.
After a while I went on a nice long blast into Borth, which led to a crazy downwind speed run through the white-water back to Ynyslas. The ride back was great so I did it a few more times.
When there’s not quite enough wind windsurfing can be very frustrating, but days like these make up for it.
