Half Term Surf

It’s Half Term here this week so I’ve been at home with Morgan. The weather has been quite autumnal, but Morgan and I did manage to get out for a surf on Monday afternoon, and then overnight a proper autumn swell arrived. We took a look at the waves here at Ynyslas but decided they were a little too big, there was far too much wind on them and that it would be a nightmare paddle to get out the back, so we headed into Borth instead.

It was still too big for Morgan here, but just about perfect for me and there was only a few other people out. One person in front of the Lifeboat Station and a couple out on the point. Larry was just getting ready to go out on his SUP too. I got straight in and had a nice easy paddle out and then started to catch some waves. I was soon joined by Larry and the guys surfing the point came in to surf off the beach as well now that the tide had dropped a little. I didn’t catch loads of waves or stay in very long as Morgan was on the beach watching, taking photos and chatting to Shem so I didn’t want to leave him there too long. He seemed to enjoy himself though so I could have stayed out a bit longer, but at least I caught a few waves, even if they were all left-handers.
