Pontrhydfendigaid Open Gardens

Just thought I’d promote this as it sounds like a really good idea for the weekend.

Not only will we get to have a nose around other peoples gardens but we’ll be donating to Wales Air Ambulance at the same time. Hopefully some of the gardens that will be open will be ‘normal’ gardens as well rather than just those huge show gardens that people usually visit. It’s all well and good seeing what people with shed loads of time and money can do with a massive plot in the perfect location but it’s not something most of us could even contemplate emulating in our gardens. So, seeing normal gardens maintained by normal people should be quite inspiring.

PONTRHYDFENDIGAID OPEN GARDENS

GERDDI AGORED PONTRHYDFENDIGAID

July 28th   1pm – 6pm
£4 per person (children free).

All in aid of Wales Air Ambulance

Around half a dozen gardens will be open on the day, each with a difference. There are both large and small spaces, cottage gardens and more formal designs; established, mature plots and newly created gardens. With each offering interest such as bee-friendly planting, wildflower areas and vegetable growing, there is something for every gardener to enjoy!

A map will be provided at Pantyfedwen Hall, showing you where the gardens are, and telling you a bit about each of them. There will also be plant & cake stalls at the hall.

Both the pubs in the village have kindly sponsored the event and will be open on the 28th for those who want to make a day of it. We recommend booking in advance if you wish to have a meal at the Black Lion (01974 831 624) or the Red Lion (01974 831 232).
