Geocaching, BBQ’s and Slack-lining for Aprils Fools

We’ve just got back from visiting friends in the lovely new house on the banks of the River Teifi in Cilgerran.

We took a leisurely drive down stopping off at a few roadside geocaches on the way, and then went to Llechryd for a walk along the banks of the Teifi and a few more geocaches. We then headed to Dennis and Sophie’s where we first did one final geocache before wrapping up warm for a BBQ at their house. The clocks may have gone forward and it might be April, but it was still pretty cold but we all persevered and sat outside munching our way through sausages and burgers whilst wearing down jackets, woolen sock and hats.

It was good to see Dennis and Sophie and they have a lovely old house overlooking the river. After dinner which included a whole host of cakes too we wandered down to the river for a bit of slack-lining and a stroll along the river bank for some stone skimming before walking up to peer in at Cilgerran Castle. We then chilled in front of the fire for the evening with a drink or two and some more food and cakes.

We stayed overnight so that we could take another leisurely drive back, stopping first for a quick cache and dash at a geocache overlooking the bay of Poppit Sands, then at a garden centre, before heading into Poppit Sands itself for a stroll. It was still too early for lunch though so we headed in into New Quay where we had a wander around, a mice pub lunch and an ice-cream before driving home in glorious sunshine but with the ever present view of snow clad hills behind our house.

A nice day or two away and good to catch up with friends.
