A day out around Coed y Brenin

Winter is definitely on it’s way, there’s a frost here this morning and temperatures dropped below freezing (-1ºC) for the first time this winter. Yesterday was similar, clear skies and a lovely sunny, crisp autumnal day so we loaded up the car with bikes and headed off to Coed y Brenin.

Anna and Morgan had a nice ride around the family orientated Afon Trail which was just about within their capabilities. Morgan made it up most of the bills but did have to push on a few of them. I meanwhile did the Dragons back Trail on my own.

I felt pretty slow on the climbs for some reason, but was still overtaking lots of people and didn’t get overtaken myself, so maybe I wasn’t that slow. The downhills were nice though with my bike feeling lovely and plush as I had serviced the rear shock and forks on Friday.

We then headed to the Visitor Centre for a well earned burger and hot chocolate, but they had completely run out of burgers which was a shame. Instead we headed into Dolgellau and had a lovely hot chocolate and some cake in a tea room there before heading home to relax in front of the fire.

We really should get Morgan out on his bike more often.
