One week to the Dyfi Enduro

Don’t want to scare anyone, but there is just one week to go until the Dyfi Enduro! Am I the only one feeling completely unprepared for it?

I know my training schedule has had some set backs due to unexpected hospital visits and Morgan’s first week at school. I’m still not 100%, but I’ve done a couple of slightly longer rides lately and should be doing the whole thing as a pre-event warm up tomorrow. I will just take it easy on the day and try to enjoy it.

How’s everyone else feeling?

I tried to get the miles in this weekend but I’m still no where near Dyfi distances. Did Pendam Thursday, Summit Friday, Conti Sunday.

Reading threads on STW is making me brick it regarding the descents and the climbs sound much worse than the Legburner by some accounts. Might go for an on-foot recce one evening this week to see what it’s all about.

Well, we did most of the route yesterday [session log here]. It was pretty dry and a perfect day for it and I feel fine this morning. Some of the climbs are quite long and one of them was pretty steep and rocky too. The descents are well worth it though, although it may be a bit manic on the day with hundreds of other people on them as well.

      I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

I could certainly do with being a bit fitter and faster but the plan is just to get around and enjpy it.

I’ve now uploaded a copy of the route we took (which approximates the course):

I’m not feeling ready either… Barring mishap I should get around, but it won’t be fast and the second half won’t be very enjoyable!

The weather for the few days before doesn’t look great either, so those dry dusty trails we were hoping for may not be quite so dry and dusty.

Take a look here: https://www.alananna.co.uk/blog/2010/dyfi-enduro-pre-ride-2010/ to see our pre-ride from last week (the post that your are currently reading is actually about the 2009 Dyfi Enduro). There’s rumour of a new descent this year that could create carnage!
