Fit(ish), Fast(ish) but Fat(ish)

My training schedule hasn’t been going to badly lately. There has been the odd mishap such as accidental roast dinners rather than lunchtime swims, but I’ve generally been having two swims a week, at least two bike rides a week and so far in May I’ve been windsurfing every day that I haven’t been out on the bike.

Windsurfing isn’t really that good as far as exercise goes, but it has to be better than nothing.

The swimming is coming on OK. I usually do a 2km workout in 40 minutes in my lunch hour which isn’t too bad. Trouble is my only point of reference is how fast and fit I was about 20 years ago and I don’t think I’ll ever be like that again however much I train.

The MTBing is good fun and I’m able to go out with others without always feeling as though they are waiting for me all the time. I did OK in the Dyfi Enduro a couple of weeks ago, so once again, I may not be that fit or that fast but I’m not doing too badly.

I still haven’t lost any weight though. I guess as you get older then maintaining a steady weight is better than putting any on, but if I could loose just a bit then I’m sure I’d feel fitter and be faster on the bike. I just enjoy eating too much and tend to eat quite a bit of chocolate too if its on offer… Time to cut down a little on the food I suppose. Although, surely being fit(ish), fast(ish) and fat(ish) is still better than just being fat!
