Visit to Slimbridge

We’ve just got back from a busy weekend in Gloucestershire doing a pre-Christmas family visit and getting my car MOT-ed. Unfortunately just after the MOT it developed an oil leak so we had to leave it there and borrow my brothers car to get back home!

Morgan also came down with a sickness bug so was fairly ill all day Sunday whilst we drove back!

We did find time however to visit the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge and luckily had a lovely, sunny, crisp winters day for it. Morgan liked it there and Anna enjoyed the warm, centrally heated, comfortable bird hide. If they had provided arm chairs and cups of hot chocolate I don’t think we would have got her out of it! We even managed a sneak peak behind the scenes of the amphibian displays where we saw lots of newts, frogs and salamanders that weren’t on display and some rare (extinct in the wild) newts that they were about to start a breeding program with.

A nice day out and a nice place to visit.

Saturday was good too, with ice-skating in the morning followed by lunch in a pub, but I’ll write more about that if I can get some photos / video of us skating!
