The Travel Bug Race Begins

The Aber-Cachers travel Bug Race began at the weekend…

If that sentence menas nothing to you, then Aber-Cachers is an open group for people who enjoy geocching in Wales. Geocaching is a form of treasure hunting using a GPS receiver to help you home in on the treasure cache. These caches generally have little items for swap in them and can also have special items known as Travel Bugs in them. Each Travel Bug has its own unique tracking ID and when people find them they are asked to move them to another cache and record their progress.

Some members of the Aber-Cachers set off a number of travel bugs as the weekend as part of a race to see which one manages to travel the farthest by April 1st 2008.

Morgan and I set off a Travel Bug each so will be having our own private race of our own within the larger Aber-Cachers Race…

It looks as though both of ours are off to a good start as they have been picked up by some geocachers from Devon and will soon be set free in a geocache in Devon.

You can check their progress in the race here.
