Pre-Race Lurgy

It’s my first race of the year on Sunday, the Pwllheli Triathlon and annoyingly I’ve come down with some sort of pre-race lurgy.

Headache, sore throat, cough and aching all over – exactly what I don’t need. I had a rest day yesterday and have taken a day off training today as well, but unless I make some sort of miraculous recovery tomorrow then it doesn’t look as though I’ll be racing after all on Sunday.

Such a shame as I was looking forward to it as training has been going really well over the winter. Yes there have been a few niggles and I’ve been aqua-jogging rather than running but I was feeling fit and was raring to go. It’s not worth forcing it though and with the way the weather is at the moment the last thing I need to be doing is cycling and running around North Wales in near freezing conditions whilst I have a cold.

I’ve been really healthy recently as well and haven’t had a proper cold for ages. This one hasn’t quite taken hold completely yet either so who knows maybe with some extra Vitamin C and some Echinacea I’ll be able to kick it before the weekend. If not then I shall be enjoying some Easter Chocolate at home with Anna and Morgan on Sunday rather than swimming, biking and running around Pwllheli.

I’m not feeling any better today – It’s looking increasingly likely that I won’t be able to race on Sunday. 🙁
