Evacuation

It looks as though there is an evacuation in process thanks to the flooding. Ceredigion County Council have released the following advice:

BORTH: Natural Resources Wales is predicting waves of 1.8m/6ft above sea level at high tide tonight at 21:20. This could cause substantial flooding. We strongly advise residents to vacate all properties and move to the Rest Centre in the Community and Youth Centre ASAP before 19:30

ABERYSTWYTH: Natural Resources Wales is predicting waves of 1.8m/6ft above sea level at high tide tonight at 21:20. This could cause substantial flooding. We strongly advise residents on Aberystwyth seafront and Town Centre to vacate all properties and move to our Rest Centre in Penglais School ASAP before 19:30

No mention of Ynyslas though, do we stay or do we go? No news from the flood co-ordinator and  haven’t been instructed to help people evacuate so I guess we just sit tight for the time being. The winds are increasing out there though and high tide approaches.  If we didn’t live in a bungalow it might be time to move upstairs though.

We’re back at home after a night away having been evacuated from the house. Thankfully all is OK here so we had all of the excitement of being evacuated for the night but none of the trauma.

Thanks for all the offers of accommodation for the night and to Nia for putting us up / putting up with us!

Looks as though they are evacuating the seafront in Aber again…

    This from Ceredigion CC:
Very high tides with exceptional wave swell predicted this morning at 11:10 in Aberystwyth. In light of the existing damage this could cause serious injury, substantial flooding and damage to properties. Residents between Pier and Constitution Hill should leave properties and go to our Rest Centre in Penglais School ASAP before 10am. Everyone should keep away from the Promenade as it is very dangerous.

No news on Borth or Ynyslas yet though, so I think we’re OK here?
