Technical Running Gear

What a day, pouring with rain, blowing a gale and ‘proper nasty’ out there! No excuses though, I had to do a 45 minute easy run, so that’s exactly what I did.

Thankfully I have plenty of wet weather gear, so on went my running tights, a long-sleeved thermal top, a waterproof jacket, buff, gloves and hat and off I went. It was pretty nasty out there, but the technical clothing kept me warm and dry and my run was actually quite enjoyable. It was only at a steady pace, which became an almost standstill into the wind thanks to the gusts, but I made it round and felt pretty good.

Technical running kit can be mighty expensive, but you can often get some good deals online. Amazon sometimes have various things at a decent price and some of the bigger cycling outlets such as Wiggle and Royles are good too. I’ve also recently signed up to SportPursuit.

SportPursuit is a members-only sport private sales club. You can become a member for free by registering here. Every week members receive an email newsletter letting them know about the new sales that are available. The offers are exclusive to members and typically offer savings of up to 70% off the RRP of the world’s best sports brands, for the 7 days or so of the flash sale.

It’s a bit of a strange concept as they don’t have anything in stock so you have to check back regularly to see what’s on offer, but I guess that’s their unique marketing approach. I’ve ordered a few things from them and have to wait for the sale to end before they are sent, but the savings were good and the products look good too.

If you use this link to sign up, I get an extra £5 off my next order for referring you – You can save £5 off your first order too by ‘liking’ them on Facebook.

Todays run may not have been fast, but thanks to my technical clothing I was at least comfortable and able to enjoy it despite the disgusting weather.
