Open Garden in Ceredigion

Llwyncelyn garden in Glandyfi was open on Sunday as part of the National Garden Scheme, so we had a little family outing to visit it.

The National Garden Scheme sees provate gardens all over the country open in aid of charity and I’m sure many people go along for a nose as much as anything else. We didn’t of course, we just fancied a stroll around a garden in order to get some ideas for our own little patch.

The garden was very nice with a lovely natural woodland walk along a hillside and through a bluebell filled oak woodland. There was a little arboretum next to a babbling stream that cuts down through the rock into it’s own little gorge and some more formal areas closer to the house with herbs, bedding plants, prairie grasses and some fruit.

The garden contains hybrid and species rhododendrons, azaleas and hydrangeas and fernery. It also had a little pond where Morgan was able to catch newts and watch the damsel flies. We bumped into a few people we knew whilst there, had a nice stroll, a cup of tea and cake and dodged a rain shower but otherwise enjoyed the walk in the sunshine.
