New Garden Species – Powdered Quaker

It wasn’t a great night last night as far as moth trapping goes. I don’t think we can blame the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano either as there was no sign of it during last nights sunset. The temperatures dropped to 3.4ºC and the winds were light.

Morgan has some friends coming over after school today so we were hoping for a good catch as they want to ‘see the moths’, but with the low temperatures that wasn’t the case. there were at least some moths in the trap though, including a Powdered Quaker (Orthosia gracilis) which is a new species for the garden.

  • Common Quaker x2
