After an exciting Friday on the sea, we had a slightly more relaxed Saturday. Steve headed home feeling a little battered and bruised. I was quite tired too. However, while he was here I suggested we all meet up in Derwen Garden Centre on Saturday. We checked with Anna and Biddy and they were keen...

This may be tempting fate, but after struggling with algae for a while the aquarium is once again algae free. The algae got a little out of control after my heart attack. I was unable to do anything to the tank for a while, the CO2 supply ran out and the delicate balance was upset....

I let my aquarium slip a little after my heart attack. I wasn’t really up to maintaining it as lugging heavy buckets of water around was out of the question. It did OK as it is quite self-sufficient, but it did suddenly get a little overwhelmed with algae after a while. Balanced Ecosystem The tank...

Running through the Bluebells It started with a nice trail run around Penglais Woods in the early morning sunshine. The ground beneath the trees was awash with Bluebells and the birds were singing in the trees. I put in a half decent...

Unfortunately, the most recent set of repairs I made to my failing aquarium didn’t work. I tried emailing Aquatlantis again but had no response from them. They seem to have washed their hands of the matter and clearly don’t want to help. So, I have now had another go at making repairs. This time I drained...

Well, the more substantial repairs that I made to my Aquatlantis fish tank didn’t last long. I refilled it earlier in the week hoping that the repairs would hold up. Within about 8 hours though they had failed so I’m back to square one. The sealant holding the brace to the side of the tank...

Well, after rebuilding my fish tank last week, I left it over the weekend with very little water in it so that the sealant could fully dry. Today I refilled it gradually with water so as not to stress the fish too much and so that I could keep an eye on the structural integrity...

I’ve had a few issues with my Aquatlantis Fusion fish tank lately. As I mentioned back in February, the main brace that holds it together across the top of the tank had fallen off. I glued it back on, but as the tank had bowed a little there was quite a big (0.5-1cm) gap between...

I haven’t mentioned my aquarium or the aquascape within it for quite a while. It was all looking really good lately though and the plants, fish and shrimp inhabitants were all doing well. That was until I noticed the bracing piece of glass in the middle of the tank had fallen off! Actually, one end...
