I had a lovely swim in the silky smooth waters of Ynyslas the other day. However, as I was getting out, I slipped on the muddy submerged forest and lost my goggles in the process. Not the most exciting story, I know—but it does get better. There was someone taking photos from the beach who...

You can’t beat an early morning open water swim before work, no matter what the weather. But when it’s a perfect sunny summer morning there really isn’t anything better. Especially when you swim the length of Aberystwyth and then head off below the cliffs to Clarach. It’s made even better by the stunning walk back...

Swimming Goggles with a heads-up display, Bluetooth connectivity, live metrics and automatic interval detection – whatever next! Yep, smart swim goggles are here and they’re better than I was expecting. The Form Swim Goggles have all of this and more. They work well and are actually useful rather than just a gimmick. I wasn’t sure...

With the nights closing in and the days getting shorter, our early morning swims here in Aberystwyth have pretty much become night swims over the past few weeks. Meeting at 6:30am and in the water by 6:45am means that it is still completely dark when we first set off. On Friday morning, the sun wasn’t...

Probably a good thing as not only would it take me forever to do but I’m sure most of you would switch off pretty quickly if I did. Most of my runs, bike rides, swims and kayak sessions aren’t that exciting after...

The sea is feeling as though summer is here and the garden is growing well. I had a busy day on Monday, starting off the day with a...

Yep, that’s right, it wasn’t an illusion. That person that people saw in the swimming pool on Thursday morning was indeed me! It was my first time swimming since the day after Boxing Day last year – all thanks to a shoulder injury that turned out to be osteo-arthritis. What’s more, I managed to complete...
